CHAMPION SYSTEM TO SPONSOR THE FIRST-EVER ASIAN BASED PRO CONTINENTAL CYCLING TEAM

Champion System, the worldwide leader in custom technical apparel, is excited to announce its support of a ground breaking cycling franchise.  Champion System is sponsoring the first-ever Asian based UCI Professional Continental Cycling Team in 2012.  In 2011, Champion System was the title sponsor of its own Continental team that was registered in Hong Kong. That was a one year venture and for 2012 Champion System is increasing their sponsorship with a new and entirely different project.

The new Champion System Professional Continental Team will feature Asia’s top cyclists as well as seasoned European and international professionals.  One of the primary goals of the team is to allow Asia's top cyclists to compete at the highest level of the sport.  Until now opportunities for Asian racers to compete in major International competitions has been rare.  Besides racing in the major UCI Tours in Asia, the team will compete in professional tours in Europe and North America with the goal to develop Asian-based World and Olympic champions.

Edward Beamon has been hired as the Team Director.  Edward is recognized as one of the longest standing Manager/Directeur Sportif in the U.S., running the former Navigators Insurance Cycling team for 14 consecutive seasons, between 1993 and 2007. He went on to direct the US-based Team Type 1 in 2008. In 2010 he joined Fly V Australia Pro Cycling Team as Technical Director.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the news of the passing of Paul Nicholls.  Paul was the founder of Team Continuum, an organization committed to providing vital non-medical assistance to cancer patients and their families.  Paul fought a long time battle with cancer himself.

"When Team Continuum contacted us to make their team clothing we asked 'how can we help your cause'?" said Champion System co-founder and current Team Continuum board member Scott Kaylin. "When I met Paul I was struck by his incredible determination to help others suffering from cancer.  We all have a heavy heart today but we're left knowing that Paul's will lives on and we're committed to support Team Continuum now more than ever".

Below is the official announcement from Team Continuum:

Sadly, Paul passed away quietly at home early this morning.  His wife, Diana Walker, asks that people please giver her some privacy and refrain from calling at this difficult time.  Expressions in cards and letters would be OK. A memorial will take place at a later date and as things develop I  will keep  you posted. Should anyone ask, the family wishes to honor Paul's request that in the event of his death, in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Team Continuum.

Champion System to Become Official Uniform Supplier to IHRA

Champion System, the New York-based full service custom apparel and accessory manufacturer, has entered into an agreement with the International Hot Rod Association to become the sanctioning body’s “Official Uniform Supplier.” The company has also acquired title sponsorship rights to IHRA’s seven-event 2009 Sportsman Nationals schedule.

“This is a perfect fit for us and an ideal situation for Champion System,” IHRA director of contingency and inside sales Kurt Oberholtzer said. “They have a product with outstanding quality that is very affordable, something our race teams will be able to take advantage of. Plus, they are an active company with aggressive leadership who wanted to branch out from their traditional role in cycling to brand their company in motor sports applications. We’re pleased they chose IHRA as their platform to do this.”

Champion System president Scott Kaylin thinks his company will blend in with IHRA immediately.

“IHRA wants to have a professional image as a company and we’re all about that,” Kaylin said. “This partnership is a very good fit.”

Kaylin has specific reasons he wanted to work with IHRA, citing Champion System’s background and the company’s roots.

“We started our business in cycling so we’re new to motor sports, but they are very similar in that both cycling and motor sports, especially drag racing, are sponsor-driven,” he said. “It’s a unique challenge to incorporate multiple sponsors into a uniform, but this is a challenge we have been meeting for a long time with our cycling background. Our transition into drag racing should be relatively seamless. This is a perfect fit for us.”

Champion System will provide IHRA officials with the uniforms they will be wearing at all 2009 Nitro Jam national events, Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am events and all Champion System Sportsman Nationals presented by VP Racing Fuels events. The company will also be looking to build a client base consisting of IHRA competitors…particularly at the sportsman level.

“We wanted to get involved with IHRA because of their dedication and attention to the sportsman drag racer,” Kaylin said. “Because of our business model and experience we will be able to offer affordable garments and uniforms to the sportsman and professional teams. We want to make the sportsman racers look and feel like professionals when it comes to what they wear in competition.”

And we immediately received this response from one motorsports company:

Thank You Champion System for your recent decision to become Title Sponsor of IHRA's Sportsman Nationals.  In this day of scaled back services, you have awaken our Team's spirit by supporting Sportsman Drag Racing.

I read the IHRA web site posting and honestly, I had my doubts as to how much savings you all could give the Sportsman racer.  Well, after viewing your web site and prices, all I can say is "Wow, you got to be kidding me!"  Those prices are the best I've seen in years.  We spent more for the uniform shirts we have now and they are not that good looking.

You all will be hearing from us soon!

Champion System Wins Big at Tour of Hong Kong Shanghai

Champion System Racing won the third stage of the Tour of Hong Kong Shanghai. Lisban Quintero powered ahead of a very fast, very exciting sprint bunch, taking the win. Later he moved up to 2nd on GC after the fourth stage. In addition, Gavi Epstein is wearing the U23 jersey, and is leading that category by three minutes. The Champion System team received its invitation to the prestigious six-day race only at the last minute, and team director Ray Alba and DS Miguel Morras had to scramble to finalize the recruitment of its 2009 members to field a team for this event. Along with Lisban and Gavi, the team includes Blake Longacre, Raj Seepersaud and Chris Litnaman. This year’s event, held October 17-25, features very fast and technical circuit races and two point-to-point events with top amateurs and professionals from around the world. Champion System is also providing the leaders’ jerseys for this race.

Says Scott Kaylin, one of the owners of Champion System: “A stage win is just the icing on the cake. The Champion System KraftGenie team has been part of Champion System family almost from its inception.  We have supported each beneficially for years. Seeing one of our riders on the podium in such prestigious race in Asia represents the mutual hard work and time invested on both sides.  It also sets the tone for the ’09 season."
